Teletherapy has become increasingly popular. Here’s why…
First, it’s communication without contact. You know how important that can be today.
Second, convenience. Do you have a hectic life? Are you always on the run? Would you have difficulty dealing with traffic or parenting conflicts? Do you have just enough time for a session but not enough time for the travel to and from the session?
Third, the home environment itself has several benefits. Would you prefer to be home and in a safe place where no one will recognize you? Are you afraid of going outdoors? Are you too depressed to go anywhere but you know you can pick up a smartphone or tablet or get on the computer?
Finally, teletherapy is as confidential as in-person therapy. The video-based therapy platform I use is TheraNest, a HIPAA-compliant (private, non-recorded, and secure online), video-based therapy…
You might be wondering if it’ll work…
It may feel strange at first, but rest assured that once you are comfortable with the technology, studies have shown that teletherapy can be just as successful as in-person therapy.
Early studies were done with people who had disabilities or had limited access to in-person therapy. Teletherapy has been tested under today’s circumstances and has proven, yet again, that it is a viable and, in some cases, preferable option.
Because we will see and hear each other instead of just talking over the phone, we’ll be able to relate to each other just as we would in person. The ability to feel heard will be the most important aspect of working together.
Here’s what you’ll need to get started…
You will need a computer, a smartphone, or a tablet with a camera. It would help if you also had a secure and reliable Internet connection wherever you plan to do your sessions.
To get started, I will send you some instructions and a link to your phone or email. It will allow us to talk in real-time whenever we have a session.
Wear whatever makes you comfortable… as long as it is not revealing.
Make sure you have a private (from people) place to talk. But I’m happy to meet your pets!
With a little bit of patience and learning a new technical skill or two, you will be up and running in no time!
Don’t wait to connect!
Most insurance is now paying for teletherapy sessions, but please ask me to check on yours. If you are paying privately, my price is the same as it would be if I see you in person.
And if we need to meet in person in addition to teletherapy sessions, we can still do that.
You can do this! Your life free of anxiety, fear, shame, and self-blame is within reach!
There’s no reason not to call. Please reach out and let’s schedule a free 20-minute consultation: (860) 717-4400.
